I Feel Like I'm Praying to a Wall

August 8, 2017

I get up around 5:30 in the morning to go to work. That gives me around an hour to get ready, get out the door, and drive for fifteen minutes. Somehow that snooze button seems more appealing than my YouVersion Bible app. Can you relate?

Welcome to Part 2 of the Navigating Numbness series.

For the few months that I've been done with college, I'm finding more and more that faith is harder for me as a graduate than it was as a student. I'm finding that I have more questions than answers. Frankly, it's exhausting. I've caught myself slipping up in my morning routine that I used to have down so well... *sigh... Wasn't I supposed to have it all together by now?

So you get the picture, right? I'm struggling to do morning devotions. I forget to pray often. I'm not plugged into a 24-hour community like I was in college. I've even been procrastinating on blogging! Ugh! It is hard playing this "adulting" game.

Maybe you're struggling with your prayer life too. If so, will you join me in praying this verse every morning this week?

"Draw near to God and He will draw near to you..."

James 4:8A, HCSB

Father, today I choose to draw near to You, remembering all that You've brought me through. I choose to trust that You are good, and that Your purpose remains. Lord, I know from your word, that if I draw near to You, You will draw near to me. So, will you come closer? I miss the closeness I used to have with You. Can You bring our relationship back to that place? In Jesus' name, Amen.

Now let's speak this next verse over ourselves, believing that He will answer our prayers:

"I will remain confident of this: I will see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living."

Psalm 27:13, NIV
