Praise to the King

April 25, 2017

What are you struggling with? School? A relationship? The future?

For me, the answer is yes. All of the above. School, because I only have two weeks of class left and my motivation has nearly completely evaporated. Relationships, because community is messy, and it seems I'm always fighting for healthy relationships. The future, because I'm graduating in 17 days and I still don't know what I'm doing with my life.

But what about you? What are you struggling with?

I ask, because I want you to know that God is bigger.

One thing I have learned over the past four years in college is that worry gets us nowhere. Worry crushes our hope and extinguishes our passion. It infiltrates our secret places with God, tainting our connection with Him. Worry wrecks everything it touches.

Friends, I wrestle back and forth all the time between being crazy, bouncing-off-the-wall-in-love with Jesus and feeling completely numb to His love. I have wasted many conversations, nights, and journal entries worrying about my numbness, my trials, and those around me.

"This is how we will know we belong to the truth and will convince our conscience in His presence, even if our conscience condemns us, that God is greater than our conscience, and He knows all things" (1 John 3:19-20, HCSB).

God is greater than our conscience, and He knows all things.

Aaah, speaking truth. I love it. There is something so incredibly powerful about declaring truth over our lives, especially when we're in the middle of a trial or storm.

I will sing about Your goodness when it seems all goodness is gone

I will praise You in the wilderness trusting You will carry me on

I will sing about Your mercy when I see judgment all around

When the darkness tries to squish me, I'll declare, "Your love abounds"

Speak truth into the lies that clamor for your attention. Speak life into the relationships that seem to be dying. Speak hope into the places in your heart that are weary. Speak goodness into the moments you face temptation.

He is here, drawing near

God bless,

~ Julia ~
