Professional Life

I’ve worked as a receptionist, secretary, office manager, high school English teacher, proofreader, and technical writer. My education and every position I’ve had have led me to love words and grammar in general.  I went from editing web copy to editing reports to teaching and editing essays to writing and editing environmental compliance documents. These nine years of experience have given me the ability to make a document—any document—grammatically correct, free of punctuation and spelling errors, and beautifully written.

Creative Life
While I’ve always been a good writer, I got the idea for my novel after I graduated from college.   Knowing the competitive nature of the publishing world, I simply tried to organize the story line.  After that, I waited until I could figure out how to begin the novel in a catchy and interesting way.  It took another two years, but it flowed from me like it was meant to be that way.  The first chapter of the novel has changed very little since I first typed it out.  While the novel is not yet finished, I hope to have it published by 2010.  In the meantime, I write poems and short stories as they come and I’ve posted a few here for you to see.

I’ve also recently begun writing nonfiction, and the first major piece will be published in Thank God I Volume 3, which is scheduled to be released at the end of 2009.  My story, "Thank God I Was Tormented in School," is one of many true, inspirational stories written by people who have overcome great tragedies and are able to see the good that has come from these tragedies.  If you’re interested in my “Thank God I..." story, any Thank God I...® book, or Law of Equilibration, feel free to contact me.  I’m more than happy to discuss my journey with you.  In the meantime, I’m incredibly grateful that I have the opportunity to do what I love and to continue to learn as I go.
